The Oncology Program is supported by diagnostic radiologists with expertise in interventional radiology, pediatric surgeons, pediatric radiation oncologists, child life specialists, physical and occupational therapy, a clinical pharmacist, and social workers.

Hematology

The Hematology Program follows approximately 300 patients with sickle cell disease and offers multidisciplinary therapy for these patients and their families.

The Coagulopathy and Thrombophilia Program is directed by Dr. Irmel Ayala. This program coordinates the care of patients undergoing evaluation for bleeding or clotting disorders. Specialized clinics include those focused on hemophilia, thrombophilia, and stroke (in collaboration with neurologists).

Sarcoma Program

The Sarcoma Program is in conjunction with Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Damon Reed, who conducts bench research to develop novel chemotherapeutic compounds, leads the sarcoma program and evaluates patients at both Moffitt Cancer Center and All Children’s Hospital.

Blood and Marrow Transplant Program

The Blood and Marrow Transplant Program is affiliated with Moffitt Cancer Center and performs approximately 50 transplants annually. It is part of the National Marrow Donor Program and the Pediatric Blood & Marrow Transplant Consortium. It is approved by FACT and is Children’s Oncology Group accredited.

Neuro-Oncology Program

The Neuro-Oncology Program is directed by Dr. Stacie Stapleton, who is formally trained in neurooncology. This is a very busy program with about 50 new brain tumor patients yearly. CanSurvive Clinic

Our CanSurvive Clinic, led by Dr. Kelly Sawczyn, provides coordinated multidisciplinary survivorship care to help patients who have completed their acute oncology or transplant care manage their long-term healthcare needs. Services include physician evaluation, nurse education, social work suppport and other interventions that will empower patients and families to receive optimal healthcare.
